On April 1st 2011, an idea roared to life that I had no idea if it were going to survive the month.
A few years prior, I had become hooked on the concept of internet radio. I never imagined a place where I could become a DJ and have people listen to my musical tastes. I found it by accident and it smacked me dead in the face”HOLY SHIT THIS IS COOL, SIGN ME UP!”
Haven’t looked back…
After a few years, of learning the ropes and taking some K.O.s at a couple of stations. I had decided that I wanted to create my own internet radio world.
And here we are…
Sludge, stoner and doom are far too neglected in the ears of the music listening public. The direct descendents of Black Sabbath in it’s DNA, yet it’s children get way meaner, way higher and way more sullen than anything their fathers conceived of.
To me, these are the genres that convey the most emotional connection. There’s something about a slow, plodding, downtuned guitar…that distorted rumble of anguish that a great sludge metal band plays. Or, the swirling rambunctiousness of a stoner band that makes you want to drive straight to the desert and hug a cactus. I can’t leave out the high-reaching depths of disparity caused from the cavernous melancholy of doom.
This isn’t music designed for commercial success, it’s here to be that unfriendly next door neighbor.
I wanted to have a place where all of these unfriendly neighbors could congregate and really show the rest of the neighborhood why they don’t like them.
